In Bogenhausen just a few steps from the Prinzregenten Theatre, the gates of “Hippocampus“ open since July 1996.
Only at the second glance one realizes the remarkable treasures most of them have been imported from Italy: those dark oak wooden panels (Noce Nationale) covering the walls, the yellow and black Siena marble floor, the art nouveau bronze lamps from a former luxury hotel of the Golden Twenties; the zinc covering of the small Aperitif-bar is very rare and has been handmade in France.
In Summer you can enjoy the outside of the restaurant on its terrace. Surrounded by a luxuriant green hedge you sit most comfortably in those stylish wrought iron chairs with their cozy light beige cushions. In the evening they light big iron torches which give the whole garden a romantic atmosphere and make you feel like on holiday. That’s why the remarkable garden of the Hippocampus has been mentioned by several magazines as being one of the most beautiful restaurant gardens in Munich.
